Dads can be champs too! - Resurrecting the Champ Reviews

This appears to be a story about sports writing and boxing and they are incidental themes. The real theme that emerges slowly is the theme of being a good father and what the ramifications are of not having a good father. One person hides in a fictional life and another vows to be different than his father;how they bump into each other and become friends fills in the real blanks to the story for which the incidental themes provide a vehicle. Both Jackson and Hartnett play their roles well considering who their characters are supposed to be. Complaints of Hartnett of being a 2D character is him acting his character with problems to resolve and he does make a change in character. Jackson plays his role with aplomb throughout as he is a more colorful character to begin with and their friendship reveals more of his character's background. In the end, they have come to a very solid friendship that came through some tough testing times. The dad sonnecting with his kid proves to be a champ too.
